Photo Session

09/18/2008

The long anticipated photo session is now over. I finally took photos of an ex on Tuesday evening. I wanted some practice taking photos of people and to be able to bring out a person’s personality. I think I got several aspects of his personality. I havne’t had much of a chance to look at all the photos because I have been busy backing them up after Monday’s incident. I’m still waiting to hear that my drive was received. I really need my iPhoto library and all the corresponding photos off of it.

I may post photos here, but not likely. I have to turn at least one in for a grade, which is why I set up this photo session to begin with. I wanted it to happen back in early August. It would have been nice to take his photos before he got a mohawk for Burning Man. But I had to deal with white, slightly blue, slightly black spikey hair. It’s much less colorful than I suspect that it was originally.

Swearing

09/16/2008

Yesterday was a day filled with trying to get hard drives to work properly. My newest and largest failed. I lost my iPhoto library and most of my photos. I’m looking at getting them recovered, but I don’t know exactly how much that will cost. It could be as little as $200, however, it could end up costing more. I bought a new drive today to make sure I have backups for the rest of my computer because all of that was on the drive as well.

Party Success!

09/15/2008

The party on Saturday went very well. Everyone had a good time. I was concerned, as usual, about having enough food and drinks, but I had more than enough. Typically, I underestimate what is needed. Rock Band was a hit! I can’t wait for the new one to come out.

Here’s Jasper!

I had kept this under wraps for awhile. I have a new puppy–an English Border Terrier. His name is Jasper. He’s nine weeks old here.

What I’m Watching

09/11/2008

I don’t often have time to watch TV. My favorite shows on the networks haven’t started yet. But never fear, there’s HBO to the rescue! Entourage is back. I may be only be one of few women who watch and enjoy this show.  I have heard the demographic who watch this show are young men under 35.

All summer HBO had been promoting True Blood. The ads really confused some people because they advertized this new drink “Tru Blood”. I talked to people who actually thought it was real. I had wanted to check out this show because I enjoyed Six Feet Under and True Blood is from the creators of that previous show. The first episode did keep my attention. I found it surprising since I had to really suspend my belief and get into the world of the show. I’m not a fan of vampire stories or movies. The character in this show grabbed my attention and kept it for an hour. I’m looking forward to the next show.

My Favorite Thing

09/04/2008

I bought a Kindle this summer, and I realized that I never wrote about it. I took it to Denver to show my mother who is also an avid reader. I love the thing. I love that books are cheap for it. Books download quickly. The wireless service is free. The Kindle also accesses the web. Yes, it’s in black and white, but it’s much faster than my phone.

I read books all the time, and the Kindle is perfect. I can have several books on it and read which ever one I wish at the time. No more carrying around heavy books or even trying to hold open a fat paperback. It’s lightweight and fits inside luggage easily.

No, this isn’t a paid post. I just wanted to share a piece of technology that I love.

Short Hiatus and Carmel

09/02/2008

After a brief break from my blog, I think it’s time to get writing again. I didn’t think I had much to write about. Mostly there’s much I choose NOT to write about. I was lucky this Labor Day weekend because I was out of town for a few days for the first time in…well, probably EVER. I visited Carmel with a friend. I had never been. Yes, I have lived here in California for nearly 8 years and never made the almost 2 hour drive to Carmel. It was rather nice. Of course there is the art galleries. I think most people go there either for the art or golf.

It seems that to live in Carmel you must have a dog. Quite possibly even a matching pair of dogs–his and hers, or his and his, or hers and hers. Oh, they must be purebred dogs. No mutts here. I have to say that most dogs are very well behaved. They go into stores and restaurants. Not the library though–they have dog parking around back.

I think my favorite part was the friendly squirrels on the beach. They would touch your hand to get a nut. They even sat in people’s laps to get fed.

Good Deed

08/20/2008

Again, I have been neglecting writing here. There is a lot of stuff happening, but not that I can really talk about–at least not coherently.

One thing I did do was pick up a cat that was huddled next to the road on an overpass near my house. He was a black cat and seemed pretty scared. I was lucky at the time because I had a friend in the car who jumped out to either scare the cat enough to have him run off the road or to pick him up. The cat was friendly, so we took him back to my house. The cat had a tag with his name and a phone number. So, the cat was returned to his owner this morning. My cats were upset at the intruder. The owner was rather happy to get her cat back alive.

Seductive

08/14/2008

I don’t even think about being seductive usually. What do you think is seductive?

Your Seduction Style: Au Natural

You rank up there with your seduction skills, though you might not know it.That’s because you’re a natural at seduction. You don’t realize your power! The root of your natural seduction power: your innocence and optimism. You’re the type of person who happily plays around and creates a unique little world.Little do you know that your personal paradise is so appealing that it sucks people in.

You find joy in everything - so is it any surprise that people find joy in you?

You bring back the inner child in everyone you meet with your sincere and spontaneous ways.

Your childlike (but not childish) behavior also inspires others to care for you.

As a result, those who you befriend and date tend to be incredibly loyal to you.

What Kind of Seducer Are You?

The Point?

08/11/2008

I was looking around for something to post and came across this quiz from Blogthings. It makes perfect sense considering what I’ve been dealing with lately–and not writing about here. Let’s see if it says that I have healthy relationships. Frankly, they are often one-sided or turn out that way even if they didn’t begin that way.

You Have Fairly Healthy Relationships

You try your best in relationships, and you do a pretty good job.

You’re as considerate, honest, and giving as you can be.There’s always more that you can do, and sometimes you do leave people feeling a bit neglected.

Great relationships don’t happen overnight. As long as you keep making improvements, your relationships will get better!

Do You Have Healthy Relationships?

Unfortunately, this may be accurate. Especially people feeling neglected. Although they don’t tell me.
