NaNoWriMo Is Nearly Upon Us

09/26/2007

Check out InkyGirl for more cartoons.

Yes, it is almost that time again–time for novel writing month. I’m not sure if I will participate or not this year. I have so many other things going on. If I am going to write, I need to come up with a couple of ideas during October.  I didn’t complete 50,000 words last year. I don’t even think I reached 10,000. I spent a good portion of November sick. I think I would like to try writing a screenplay. I have no idea how to create one or how to format it.

Friday Sex Post

09/07/2007

Yes, it’s back! However, there will be a three week hiatus because the seminar won’t meet until the end of September. The most fun I think the class had all night was sharing absurdities. But what is absurd to one is completely reasonable or normal to another. I had a heck of a time coming up with an absurdity. I was happy to here though that someone else has a ball-licking cat. He doesn’t lick his own. Actually the other person had a ball-playing cat. So what I got out of last night’s seminar is that if I continue to be the way I have been, my life won’t have much joy. Right now, I’m not in a relationship. After last night’s insightes, I’m not sure I’m cut out for one.

HP Weekend

07/23/2007

I have been away a few days to read Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. I’m a fast reader, so I didn’t spend an entire two days reading. We waited around on Saturday for our copies to arrive. They came in the mail, and the mail was later than usual. No spoilers here. Great book. Nice ending.

Exhausted

06/30/2007

What a tiring Saturday! Another garage sale. I’m done this time. Didn’t sell anywhere near what I wanted to, but I can’t handle doing another one. Tons of stuff got donated–well soon, I hope.

Really?

I enjoy these little quizzes about personality, but how accurate are they? As part of a seminar, I have been interviewing people to find out how they see me. Everyone sees you differently. Some see you in similar ways…there’s often a common thread. However, I am either many different people or everyone has their own unique opinion. I used to be more introverted, and I can still be that way. I’m mostly in the middle of introverted/extroverted. I can be either one depending on the situation.

New Path?

05/11/2007

I feel the tug of a new path in life. Yet, I don’t know that I want to go. It’s like someone is grabbing my left arm saying “go this way,” and I’m saying “no, this way” as point to the right. Where am I going? It’s a direction I hadn’t considered before, and it’s scary. What happens if I choose this new path? It’s wildly divergent from where I thought I was going.

As I write, I’m reminded of Frost’s “The Road Less Traveled.” Could it get anymore trite? Everyone knows this poem. That’s where the “trite” comes in. Great poem. But hardly original to have it pop in my mind now.

Geek’s Paradise

04/25/2007

Well, they did it. They found a planet that could support life. We won’t be going any time soon since it’s 120 trillion miles away. Do you suppose life there is more intelligent than here? so far there’s only speculation that there’s life in the water. How simple we humans think. A planet with habitable characteristics couldn’t possibly have “people” like us, could it?

One can dream though what it might be like. The SciFi aficionado’s wet dream. Maybe a telescope will find another telescope on the planet. Eyes watching other eyes.

Long Awaited Lounge Time

03/05/2007

After two weeks of the DVD sitting on my TV, I finally had the chance to watch “The Departed.” I can see why it won an Oscar. I thought the story telling was impeccable.  The acting was very good. The movie has a really nice flow to it. I didn’t feel cheated or that something was lacking in the movie. The characters were believable in their setting.  If you really hate violence in movies, it may not be for you. It is certainly not for children. I have let my son (he’s 14 going on 15) see R-rated movies, but I don’t think I would let him see this one. If you like cop/mob type movies, it’s definitely worth seeing. If you haven’t seen it, please do. I personally watch all kinds of movies.

Cleaning Up 2006

01/02/2007

I spent part of the day yesterday removing decorations. I’m always surprised by how little time it takes to remove them compared to putting them up. I don’t have a lot to do, since my decorating this year was minimal.

I had the chance to catch up on sleep. My son also flew back yesterday, so it’s quiet here except for the rambunctious kitties. They finally came out of hiding yesterday. One early. The other much later.

For the first time in more than 10 years, I spent New Year’s Eve with someone. Sounds odd. But I’ve either had my son then or nothing and no one to spend it with. I know married couples. So they spend the evening with spouses and other married friends. I’ve mainly been single at that time of year too. Most years I don’t feel like going out either. It was a nice change this year.

I’m just not quite ready to begin the week. Yet, I feel like I should be doing something.

Here’s to the O!

12/13/2006

Since the only thing I have to write about is something I don’t, I thought I’d visit the search logs for my site again. Apparently someone in London is searching for a boobie teapot. Now, is that a teapot with boobies? I can’t imagine what one looks like. Perhaps it has two spouts. A teapot that can pour two cups at once! Do they have teapots with boobies in England? I know they really like their teapots.

Well enough of that. Time to break my tradition of not writing about certain subjects. It’s time to talk about Mr. O. He loves the nickname for those of you out there who aren’t sure. What guy wouldn’t? I’m sure everyone associates the “O” with one word. And that would be pretty accurate. In an attempt to find other “O” words, I noticed that English has very few “O” words. Here’s a few descriptive ones: overwhelm, oversexed and obeisance. Overwhelmed: that’s me. Overwhelmed by Mr. O. Now we could argue who is oversexed. However, he is one of the beneficiaries of “The Tantric Master.” Obeisance. Yes, he’s that good and that much fun.

Since English left me with few words, I went to French. The “O”: oui et oui et oui. If he visits the blog again, which isn’t often, I think he’ll enjoy that one. That reminds me of James Joyce’s “Ulysses.” Perhaps it is even hotter in French? Here’s another: obsédé. Again, I think we might argue over who that fits (him, me or both). I’m going to be egalitarian considering the results of the art of seduction quiz and say both.

I may need to get another bottle of champagne just to pay obeisance to Mr. O. I think he’s worth it, don’t you?
