Well, I’ve been updating the total catch all day. Rats don’t really come out until mid-afternoon, so the morning catch was nil. I haven’t even gone to bed yet, and I have caught 8 rats since getting the traps working and all other food out of the garage.
At 6, I thought perhaps I got a pregnant rat first who had babies. I’m still wondering. I have yet to catch a rat the size of the ones outside in the photo. All of them have been rather small. Half-size rats.
Just knowing that there were at least 8 rats in my garage is enough to make me sick. My cats were worthless in catching them. The rats are too quick and can hide too easily behind all the stuff in the garage.
Well, the trick-or-treaters will get a treat tonight as they walk by the tree in front of the house. It’s full of rats. One of the neighborhood cats is camped out watching the rats roam the tree. I saw 3 rats in the few minutes I spent looking. I also captured one on camera. You can just barely make out his beady eyes.
How perfect for Halloween! I have had a rat problem in my garage for about a month now. I haven’t caught any until this morning. I’m not looking forward to finding out how many have made my garage their home. Frankly, it’s disgusting to see all the rodent poo on the floor and boxes every day and listening to them run.
I don’t poison them because of potential harm to the cats. Neighborhood cats have taken up siting in my yard waiting for these delicious critters to come out of the tree.
Instead, I have these lovely little boxes that electrocute them. I’m gleefully keeping track of the numbers that I kill. Funny that my cats are eager to go out to the garage if they hear live rodents, but they had very little interest in the dead ones. The dead ones were good for smelling, but not much else.
Just two days to the beginning of NaNoWriMo. I’m actually nervous. Last year went very smoothly. And for some reason this year I’m anxious about being able to finish a novel. I’m trying out something new. A new genre. A steamy novel.
I have been thoroughly enjoying this show on HBO. I started to pay attention to the credits that run before the show starts. One day, about a week ago, I saw that the show is based on books by Charlaine Harris. I’m on book 4 right now. The show is slight different than the books, but all the main characters are there. The show is only about halfway into the first book. But since I’ve read the books, I know who the killer is. I’ve had several discussions with other fans of the show about the killer. Yes, it is someone everyone knows, and it’s not who you would suspect. I was taken by surprise in the book.
The show names comes from the synthetic blood that is available–which you know if you watch the show. The interesting thing about the books is that True Blood isn’t the only brand, and if I remember correctly, it isn’t until book 3 that True Blood becomes the brand of choice.
I have participated for 2 years now. This year will be my third. I won last year, and I am planning to win again this year. This year there are some options for raising money for NaNoWriMo to promote reading and writing with young people. While I’d love to donate, it’s not a good year for me, so I am asking readers–you–to sponsor me in this crazy month of writing.
For those that don’t know…to win I must write 50,000 words by November 30. The contest starts on November 1. To find out where your donations go, click here.
I havne’t posted for awhile..again. I often feel like I don’t have anything to say. Although there are hardly any readers of this blog.
It has been a disappointing week. The job interview I had that I thought went well enough to be asked back fell through. I do have a few more possibilities though. The waiting sucks.
I was away for the weekend as part of caoching a leadership training program, and while I was away I had other people watch my dog. All of his training disappeared. I have been working with him with a new training method I have been following. So far he’s doing well with it, but he struggles at times. This morning we had a battle of wills. Typically I let him act up in the morning. He’s overly excited first thing. This morning I didn’t allow it, and he didn’t like it.
I will be partipating in NaNoWriMo again this year. I had an “ah-ha” moment this weekend when the title and part of the plot appeared. I’m still thinking about the setting of the novel.
Now why wasn’t this discussed when I was in college? Women have been tlaking bad about their bodies and other women’s bodies for ages. If you don’t think so, ask the women in your lives. My mother has struggled to be a certain size. My sister hates her “fat.” My own grandmother purges when she feels fat. And me? Well, at the moment I want to lose 10 pounds. Why 10? So I can fit into the size 2 clothes I have in my closet. Yes…size 2. I can say from experience that the more I hate my fat, the more it sticks around.
This week is Fat Talk Free week. Try it. See what happens.
