On My Way…
11/04/2007
I’m currently participating in NaNoWriMo, and I have exceeded last year’s word count. things are going pretty well even though I have no idea where my novel is going. I’m at over 8,000 words today–which is where I should be to meet the 50,000 words by November 30.
Here is a bit of the story:
The sound of the ringing phone didn’t wake her up right away. The phone rang a couple more times before she realized it was the phone. She picked it up answering groggily, “hello?”
“When are you picking me up? You’re late. I’m dressed and waiting,” said the woman’s voice on the other line
It took a couple of seconds to realize who it was. It was Mom. “What is she doing calling me now?” she thought. “What am I late for?”
“What?” she asked.
“When are you picking me up?” she asked insistently.
At that point she looked over at the clock to see that it read 1:05 a.m.
“Mom, it’s one in the morning.”
“Oh, it is not. I have a doctor’s appointment at 1 p.m. today and you were supposed to be here.”
“Shit,” Abby thought. Here she goes again. Confused once again by the time of day.
“Listen, mom,” she said, “it’s the middle of the night. Your appointment is in the afternoon. Go back to sleep.”

Very cool. Keep it up, a big start is the best way to ensure that you’ll finish!

Cool beans you’re in this year!
You’ll figure out what you have at about 10,000 words. Then figure out where you want to end. Make a mental dot of the ending, so that you know where you want to go with the middle of your story. Good Luck!
