Plumerias are Edible
08/29/2006
Whoever got to my website by googling “plumeria poisonous dog eat,” I hope you found your answer. But just in case you didn’t, plumeria isn’t poisonous. It’s an edible flower. The stem of the plant is poisonous. It has some milky fluid that is the problem. Be sure your pets only ate flowers. Check this list. My cats ate a bloom, so I did the same search last week. I nearly called the ASPCA poison control, but the message said it would cost me $55 to talk to someone. I promptly hung up.
Technorati: plumeria,
dog, edible flowers

Fifty five dollars to talk to poison control? Man. I’d need to be oftly sure I was dying before I called that. How long do they want you to wait?

That’s $55 for animal poison control. I was on hold for several minutes. The ASPCA list for poisonous plants isn’t comprehensive.

Okay for flowers but ……Are the leaves poison?

Leaves and stem are poisonous. The white fluid that is inside the leaves and stem (trunk) is poisonous.

I gave the little man pedialyte and honey via syringe (no needle) in the mouth.
He’s looking better already!

This is for anyone else finding themselves here after searching to find if plumeria is poisonous: The flowers are NOT poisonous. The stem is poisonous. If you pet eats any part of the stem, you should contact a veterinarian immediately.
